This is a page for requesting work to be done by a bot. This is an appropriate place to simply put ideas for bots. However be aware of various tools available to all users which can be used to accomplish the work without the need for a bot:
  1. Gadget Cat-a-lot can be used for most category adding, removing and moving
  2. VisualFileChange tool can be used for mass-changes of one author's uploaded files, or files in a category, creating a mass-deletion-request, let you insert tags to the file-description-pages (even copy from exif/meta-data). You can also perform find and replace operations with or without JavaScript regular expressions (regexp). A common use case is: "I've changed my username". It's a web-tool and can be launched directly.
  3. AutoWikiBrowser can be used for large number of supervised and automatic edits
  4. Commons:Batch uploading page can be used to request mass image uploads

Category:San Antonio Express Vol. 39 and Category:San Antonio Express Vol. 45[edit]

Could a bot move and rename every file within the subcategories at Category:San Antonio Express Vol. 39 from volume 39 to volume 49? I think AWB requires an admin to have mass filemover rights as the moving part is fairly straightforward. Volume 45 is also actually 55 as well. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 01:26, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @EpicPupper, look at User_talk:Dominic/2021#San_Antonio_Express,_Vol._39. If you check the first page of the volume 39 (like this image), you'll see it is XLIX (49) not XXXIX. The rest there I got the Roman numerals screwed up but 45 is LV (see this image) is 55. At least it looks like the entire volume is incorrect together. There's still over 72k pages in Category:San Antonio Express but that's another matter lol. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:03, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
