Summary[edit]
DescriptionLens imaging in phase space.svg |
English: This image shows how a source of dimensions from -x to x, emitting in the angle from -alpha to alpha, focuses on its image. All the rays emanating from the source may be drawn in one phase-space graph.
There are three optical elements - free space S1, lens L1 and free space S2, each skewing the graph along some axis. These transformations may be easily expressed (and calculated) using the ray transfer matrix analysis. Note that the area of the parallelogram remains the same. |
